Robert (Bob) Winkley

A classically trained pianist, Robert (Bob) Winkley began growing orchids in 1973 after attending his first orchid show in Olympia, WA. A member of the AOS for 35+ years, Bob is a Certified - Accredited Judge in the Northeast Judging Center, where he has served twice as Center Chair and currently serves as Vice-Chair. He chaired the Judging Handbook Task Force from Fall 2015 until the end of 2022, during which time he worked to systematically update each section.

As many friends know from Facebook, Bob is also an avid cook and baker. Professionally, Bob worked at New England Conservatory of Music (Boston, MA) in Higher Education Administration from 1988 – 2023; 27 of those years were spent as Registrar and Director of Institutional Research during which time he honed his analytical skills as well as providing accurate data so that its leadership always had a clear picture of the whole to facilitate institutional goals. Bob looks forward to putting these tools to work for the betterment of the AOS.
