Carol Zoltowski

I have been growing orchids as a hobbyist for about 20 years. As I obtained a greenhouse some eleven years ago now, I began to focus my attentions on species, whatever I could grow and whatever I liked - not always the same things!

By education I am a veterinarian and continue to maintain an active license to practice in California. I do offer my services in a relief capacity and have a very select home practice that is mostly pro bono. Since 1991 my career path has taken me into the human pharmaceutical business where I have held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility starting from research technician in cardiovascular pharmacology and portfolio prioritization coordinator to regulatory affairs and quality assurance. At present I am a senior pharmaceutical executive with a non-profit pharmaceutical company whose vision is to provide medicines to all women regardless of their ability to pay. My responsibilities include regulatory affairs, quality assurance and quality control.

I have served on governing boards of numerous non-profit organizations including the San Francisco Orchid Society where I have been a multiple term past president and show chair of the Pacific Orchid Exposition.

I have been active in the American Orchid Society for about fifteen years not only as a member but also as a volunteer with the Research Committee and the Education Committee. At present I am Chair of the AOS Research Committee and a member of the Strategic Planning Task Force. I am an accredited judge of the AOS in the Pacific Central Judging Region.
