Etymology
From the Greek rhynchos, meaning snout, and Laelia, a genus of orchids, referring to the beaked fruit used to distinguish this genus from Laelia.
Distribution
A genus of two species in Mesoamerica. Rhyncholaelia has been included in a broadly defined Brassavola and R. digbyana is the Brassavola component of most complex horticultural hybrids such as ? Brassolaeliocattleya.

Grow plants of Rhyncholaelia in small pots of medium grade potting mixture or on slabs without any moisture retaining material at the roots. Provide full sunlight and warm temperatures. If mounted, the plants should be watered frequently. If grown in pots with media, allow the roots to fully dry out between waterings.
