
Catasetum-sanguineum-2020-01-01***Confirmed as Catasetum naso, not Ctsm. sanguineum (May 2020); all but one or two of these flowers appear to be female; C. naso is very similar to C. sanguineum; the key feature is that the lip is almost entire with only lacerate margins at the very base of the lip where it wraps around the column; only the very base of the lip side lobes of this plant has any noticeable fringe, consistent with C. naso; C. sanguineum has long lacerate fringes all along the lip opening; in C. naso the apex of the lip is broad and long and only the basal margins of the lateral lobes are lacerate and the pedicels are much longer.***
