Finding
Sitf has determined this plant to be Cattleya diamantinensis (V.P.Castro & Marçal) J.M.H.Shaw, not C. pfisteri (Oct 2025). This species was originally published as Hoffmannseggella diamantinensis V.P.Castro & Marçal in Richardiana 6: 113 (2006). This plant does not fit either C. pfisteri or pabstii due to the very large flower size (6.7 x 6.5 cm). A key difference between C. pfisteris and C. pabsti is that pfisteris have very small flowers, rarely larger than 2cm; whereas, pabstiis are more variable and generally larger (up to 3-4cm). This is by far larger than either. According to Cassio Van den Berg, C. diamantinensis closely resembles C. pfisteri (in the caulescens group of pinks), but with much larger flowers.
