Dimerandra elegans-Awarded as Dimerandra tarapotana Irene CBR 2025-01-12

Finding
SITF has determined this plant to be Dimerandra elegans, not Dimerandra tarapotana (Apr 2025). These flowers are twice the size of tarapotana. That species, based on the Dodson & Bennett drawing in the IOSPE, has few leaves and the apicule at the tip of the midlobe as detailed on the drawing is not visible on this plant. The lip on this plant when flattened out in the photos matches D. elegans better than any of the other species, as does the narrower sepals and petals. D. elegans is the only known Dimerandra that has these thin petals. The size and form of this flower also matches D. elegans.
