Award Number: 20186042
Award Date: October 18, 2018
Awarded As: Laelia halbingeriana 'Leucadia' - Award Challenge
Please see the award challenge attached for my analysis of the identification, the history of the plant, and relevant authorities. The exhibitors and I believe that this plant is Laelia × oaxacana, and not Laelia halbingeriana, as awarded. If our conclusion is confirmed by SITF, we would then ask the original judging team to reconsider the award under this name.
The SITF was performed on a division of the awarded plant. Both the exhibitors and I feel that this blooming is unfortunately very weak, possibly the result of an untimely repotting, so the flower measurements are generally smaller when compared to the original award.
