Paphiopedilum-daoense-Elias-CHM/AOS-2021-10-28Confirmed as Paphiopedilum gratrixianum var. daoense (Nov 2021) which is the currently accepted name; as of 2021, the WCSPF (Kew) has not agreed to raise var. daoense to species status; In a Pernier article in the November 2013 issue of "Orchids", Bolger concluded there was no strong justification for raising var. daoense to species level; based on these, this is confirmed as P. gratrixianum var. daoense, which could be changed at a later date if the status changes; key features confirming var. daoense are the short inflorescence and leaves that arch/hang rather than the stiffly held, upright fan of P. gratrixianum.
