Finding

Based on the characteristic flat shape of the bottom of the midlobe; it closely matches the photo in the AOS "Orchids" magazine, July 2020, pg. 524 and in the "Orchids of Mexico", 2005, Hagsater et. al. with good matches to photos in the OW and the IOSPE (as Euchile karwinskii).

Included in the above photos are a sketch comparing the flat-bottomed lip of karwinskii to the lip of citrina, and also a botanical sketch of karwinskii, both of which were found online, by Ramon de los Santos. The judging team noted that Euchile karwinskii was first described by Christensen in 2011 (IOSPE), and has received no AOS awards to date. Euchile (Prosthechea/ Epidendrum/Encyclia) citrina has received 52 AOS awards, only 3 of which were awarded after 2011. While many of the photos of awarded citrinas do not show lip detail, some (ex. 109900687 'Lemon Glow') may actually be karwinskii.
