Etymology
From the Greek Korybas, meaning a drunken man or a priest of Cybele, referring to the sepals which resemble a veiled drooping head, possibly alluding to a priest’s headdress or to the nodding head of a drunken man.
Distribution
A genus of about 110 species distributed from northern India to Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia, with almost half the species (ca. 50) occuring in New Guinea.
