Classification
Maxillarieae subtribe Ornithocephalinae. This genus was originally thought to be a member of the subtribe Aeridinae.
Overview
Miniature fan-shaped epiphytes. Leaves bilaterally compressed, equitant. Inflorescences axillary, corymbose, few-flowered racemes. Flowers cupped. Sepals and petals free, spreading, keeled, subsimilar, subequal. Lip unlobed, with a short spur, rigidly fused to the base of the column. Column straight, without a foot; pollinia 4, on a common linear stipe and minute viscidium.
Etymology
In honor of G. C. K. Dunsterville for his contributions to Venezuelan orchidology.
Distribution
A monotypic genus endemic to Venezuela.
