Overview
Caespitose epiphytes with ovoid, compressed pseudobulbs subtended by a pair of conspicuous bracts. Leaves two, rarely one, plicate, erect, petiolate. Inflorescences pendent few-flowered racemes, the rhachis covered with bristly trichomes. Flowers cupped mostly by the incurved petals. Sepals and petals free, spreading, dissimilar. Lip three-lobed, clawed, with a large erect callus. Column arched, very broadly winged; pollinia two, cleft, on a long, strap-shaped stipe.
Distribution
A genus of three species ranging from Guatemala to Panama, the West Indies, Trinidad, Venezuela, and Surinam.

Grow Kegeliella under intermediate to warm temperatures in medium to low light. Kegeliellas should be potted in a medium to fine grade potting mixture that incorporates some moisture retaining material such as sphagnum moss. The plants should be allowed to partially dry out between waterings. Kegeliella, like its close relative Gongora, has cyclic growth and watering should be reduced, but not stopped, following flowering until new growth appears.
