Etymology
From the Latin medius, meaning middle, and calcar, meaning spur, referring to the saccate middle part of the lip.
Distribution
A genus of 15 species from Sulawesi to Samoa with the greatest diversity in New Guinea.

Grow plants of Mediocalcar in pots or baskets with medium-grade epiphyte mixture to which some moisture-retaining components have been added or on slabs with a large pad of moisture-retaining material at the roots. Provide cool-intermediate temperatures, medium light levels, and regular watering throughout the year. The roots of Mediocalcar should never fully dry out.
