Overview

Terrestrials from an ascending rhizomatous base. Stems short. Leaves several, mostly basal, petiolate. Inflorescences erect, densely-flowered spicate racemes. Flowers not resupinate. Dorsal sepal free, the lateral sepals variously fused to form a spur-like tube or helmet. Petals fused to the sides of the column. Lip three-lobed, fused to column face at the middle, the elongate midlobe enclosed by the fused lateral sepals. Column very short, without a foot, the rostellum erect, acuminate; pollen powdery granular.

Distribution

A genus of six species in tropical America and the West Indies.
