Etymology
From the Greek schoenos, meaning reed or rush, and orchis, meaning orchid, referring to the rush-like terete leaves of the type species.
Distribution
A genus of about 20 species ranging from Sri Lanka and South India to New Guinea and Australia.

Grow plants of Schoenorchis mounted on slabs with a pad of moisture-retaining material at the roots. Provide bright light levels, intermediate temperatures, and regular watering throughout the year. Himalayan species should be watered less often and kept under cool to cool-intermediate temperatures during the winter.
