Overview
Saprophytes arising from a tuber, without roots. Stems very short, continuous with the inflorescence. Inflorescences erect pedunculate racemes. Flowers nodding, barely opening, the ovaries distinctly pedicellate. Sepals and petals subsimilar, subequal, lanceolate. Lip unlobed, sessile, with a pair of basal glandular calli. Column short, truncate, without wings or foot, the anther erect with a distinct filament; pollinia 2, powdery, on a common caudicle.
Etymology
From the Greek stereos, meaning solid, and cheilos, meaning lip, describing the solid bag-shaped lip.
Distribution
A monotypic genus ranging from Thailand and Taiwan to the Solomon Islands.
