Overview
Terrestrials arising from tubers. Leaves basal, erect. Inflorescences terminal erect pedunculate congested racemes. Flowers strongly hooded. Sepals fused into a hood, petals free. Lip three-lobed, saccate, sessile, deflexed, without callus. Column short, without wings or foot; pollinia 2, on a common caudicle.
Etymology
Honoring Christian von Steven, an early botanical collector in the Caucasus.
Distribution
A monotypic genus from Asia Minor and the Caucasus Mountains.
