December 2019

December features a major article on the history of the newly described Phragmipedium ×talamancanum from Costa Rica written by Melissa Díaz-Morales and Franco Pupulin. Known for decades, it has only been recently that the true identity of these plants has been sorted out. The history is fascinating. Included in the article is a key to identification of the currently recognized species and natural hybrids in this section of Phragmipedium. Fred Clarke continues his multipart series on Catasetinae with a beautifully illustrated article on Cycnoches warszewiczii and its breeding influences. Also in this issue Erica Hannickel introduces us to New York City's first orchid show.  You won't believe the venue. Rounding out our December issue is our traditional Photograph of then Week photo-spread.
