February 2025

Our February issue contains the eighth installment in Jim Cootes's series on dendrobiums and their relatives with Part 8: Dendrobium section Calyptrochilus. Species in this section produce clusters of flowers from leafless canes. The type species for the section is Dendrobium lawesii. This striking species produces flowers in a wide array of colors including bicolor forms. Also featured this month is the first part of a multipart series on Cattleya violacea by Juraj Kojš. Part 1 deals with the species' history, geography and successful culture. Rounding out our features this month is a discussion of the history of artificial pollination of Vanilla planifolia by Adam P. Karremans
