Tying our October issue together with our annual supplement dedicated to cymbidiums, Esteban (Steve) Gonzalez has written a beautifully illustrated feature discussing miniature cymbidiums. These terrific plants open the world of cymbidiums to many who simply do not have the room to accommodate the size of standard cymbidium plants. Continuing our cymbidium theme, Peggy Alrich and Wesley Higgins show us some of the wonderful antique paintings in their Orchids Illustrated feature this month. Ansellia africana, an African relative, is the subject of Michael Tibbs' feature article and these certainly aren't your grandfather's ansellias. Our third October feature, written by Bill Thoms, discusses Bulbophyllum Karen Lewis and other Bulbophyllum echinolabium hybrids.Rounding out this month's issue: Franco Pupulin discusses Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana, Tom Mirenda exposes us to those fascinating Galeandra species and Sue Bottom provides us a much-needed lesson in orchid hygiene.  Last, but certainly not least, for the Angraecum enthusiast (we all should be), Brenda Oviatt and Bill Nerison introduce us to another rare and spectacular angraecum - Angraecum mahavavense in their Collector's Item.
