Summary
Tom Etheridge is a judge in the Pacific Northwest Judging Center and has been growing orchids for over 40 years. He has an infectious passion for the genus Dracula, and developed this webinar based on over 25 years of growing and observing the species and hybrids of this often-misunderstood genus. In Tom’s presentation he addresses the following topics:
· Basic plant and flower structure, as well as flowering habit for most plants in the genus,
· The discovery of the first plants in the genus and subsequent taxonomic history,
· The overall distribution of the genus, as well as where most species are found,
· A brief overview of the most commonly grown species,
· Some of the hybrids that have made their way into the trade,
· Literature available covering the genus, and
· The best practices for growing these fascinating species and hybrids.
