Encyclia-chloroleuca-Selma-HCC-79-Pts-2022-06-25 SITF has determined this plant to be Encyclia belizensis, not Encyclia chloroleuca (Dec 2022); Although Encyclia species can vary widely in shape, color and floriferousness, the characteristics of this plant fall outside the description of E. chloroleuca, especially in the form of the lip; also, this plant was collected in Belize, which is outside the range of E. chloroleuca; Kew lists E. belizensis as a separate species from E. alata and this plant compares more to E. belizensis in form, color and range; there is an excellent matching photo on-line in the "Mexican Orchids - Viewing Encyclia belizensis" and a very good article with photos by Gary Yong at https://yonggee.name/articles/encyclia-belizensis/

One hundred fifty-three stellate flowers on four strong upright, chartreuse, smooth heavily branched inflorescences up to 127cm; sepals lanceolate and petals spathulate, light yellow-green, light magenta stripes on distal one-half, more pronounced on petals, sepals reverse blushed magenta; lip tri-lobed, cream-colored, midlobe light yellow-green picotee, magenta stripes centrally, callus centrally with three magenta stripes, lateral margins recurved ruffled, side lobes striped magenta basal one-third; column 0.5cm wide x 1.1cm long, light green basal one-half, cream-colored distal one-half, anther cap tan; ovary 0.2cm wide x 2.7cm long, green, ribbed longitudinally; substance heavy; texture matte; slight fragrance noted; species collected in Belize in 1989; ID by SITF ____________.
