SITF confirms this plant as Paphiopedilum papuanum (Sep 2024). This plant is considered correct based on measurements which match and the staminode shape, which is described as "lunate-reniform" and which agrees with the staminode shape on this flower. It is a close match to the IOSPE photo and N.S. of 7.5 is in range for P. papuanum. Kew considers Paphiopedilum zieckianum to be synonymous with P. papuanum and forma zieckianum has not been validly published and, therefore, cannot be formally recognized, so this plant is determined to be P. papuanum without the addition of the subspecies.
