Taeniophyllum-biocellatum-var-hainan-Bryon-CBR-2022-05-17Confirmed as Taeniophyllum (without a varietal name) (Jun 2022); the name refers to the illusion of two eyes in the flower, which are vague in this plant, but visible on the anther cap; matches the descriptions in the IOSPE and the Genera Orchidacearum, Vol. 6, Epidendroideae, pt. 3, as well as the description and photo by Jim Watts on Leafless Orchids in the AOS "Orchids" magazine Vol. 72 (Mar 2003); the varietal name on the award form is invalid; there has not been any validly published subspecies names for Taeniophyllum species, except for T. rudolfii var.productilis.

Seven stellate flowers on four 1cm long successively single to many flowered inflorescence; plant leafless, hot to warm growing, monopodial epiphyte with very flattened, creeping roots, root tips green, growing on a tree branch 5.5cm wide x 12cm long; sepals and petals pale yellow; lip concave, white; column pale yellow, 0.1cm wide x 0.1cm long, anther cap pale yellow, maroon margins; substance medium; texture crystalline; plant entered as Taeniophyllum biocellatum var hainan, species from Java; ID by SITF ____________.
