Octomeria-praestans-Bryon-CBR-2022-05-17 SITF has confirmed this plant as Octomeria praestans (Dec 2022); the key discriminators are the acute, broad petals, tri-lobed lip with a unique wavy edge not seen on other Octomeria species, and flower size in range; leaf form is a unique characteristic being mostly straight; terete leaves are diagnostic; leaves closely match the photos in orchidroots.com and Kew's herbarium specimen in the POWO; flower enlargement shows the three veins in the petals and the convergence of the outer two with the middle one; flower color is weaker than most; several supporting photos can be found on-line.

Thirty-two stellate flowers on 32 inflorescences 0.5cm long; plant growing in a 9cm plastic pot with small bark mixture, longest ramicaul 0.4cm wide x 14cm long, green, smooth, five light tan sheaths around ramicaul; longest leaf 0.7cm wide x 13cm long, terete, green, smooth; sepals and petals translucent pale yellow; lip pale yellow, midlobe blushed purple, side lobes with a purple stripe basally; column pale yellow, 0.1cm wide x 0.2cm long, anther cap pale yellow; ovary 0.1cm wide x 0.3cm long, green, ribbed longitudinally; species from S/SE Brazil; ID by SITF ______________.
